How we serve
We work with Church of England parishes and similar organisations in the Southwark Diocese to identify opportunities to support ministry via our General Fund and via a number of restricted funds. The restricted funds are those given by affiliated churches for specific ministry purposes and a Wimbledon Park fund established to forward the work of the gospel in the Wimbledon Park area
Southwark Diocese ministry fund
The Southwark Good Stewards Trust acts as an independent funding vehicle available to Church of England parishes and members in the Diocese of Southwark, whereby funds can be donated to the Southwark Good Stewards Trust either to support a specific Church or ministry activity, or as a donation available to support general ministry activity as approved by the trustees.
This allows parishes and members to ensure that the funds they donate are committed to the purpose for which they have been given and in always accordance with our mission and faith statement.
In this way, we hope to inspire confidence and encourage further giving and increase the overall giving and funds available to support Christian Ministry.
Wimbledon Park ministry fund
The SGST Trustees work with the leadership of St Luke’s Wimbledon Park and other Anglican evangelical churches and similar organisations in the area to identify opportunities to support ministry and, through the Wimbledon Park ministry fund, will;
- Provide funding via grants, loans and other options to evangelical churches and organisations for growth, financial support and planting.
- Procure property to house serving clergy and ministry staff, and as an investment for the long term funding of evangelical ministry via the Wimbledon Park Ministry fund
- Protect the use of donations by supporting only churches and organisations, and recruiting trustees, that hold faith consistent with the Jerusalem Declaration 2008
Again, it is our desire, through the creation of this independent fund, to inspire confidence and encourage increased giving.
Why use an independent trust?
“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
2 Timothy 4 v 3-5
